Brigitta Walker is our Special Education teacher, and a Learning Center advisor. A Washington native, she was born and raised in Bothell. After graduation, Brigitta lived in Missoula, Montana for 9 years, before returning to the area. Brigitta and her family recently purchased property in Marion, Montana and enjoy spending as much time there as possible.
Brigitta fell in love with special education while working in the developmental preschool on the University of Montana campus. She has enjoyed working in many aspects of the field including developmental preschool, respite care, early intervention, and now K-12 alternative learning. She earned her B.S. in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Washington in 2003, and spent the next 9 years working in early intervention. In this position, she specialized in speech and communication, Autism, and sensory processing disorders. As a next step, Brigitta earned her Masters in Teaching with a special education endorsement from City University in 2016. It was quite an exciting day when she received the call that she had been hired at Skagit Academy while waiting for her graduation ceremony to begin!
Family is of the utmost importance to Brigitta, and she enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and many nieces and nephews. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, crafting, walking, and is getting into kayaking.
